HIV Prevention and Care Services

Raphael Health Center was awarded the PCHP (Primary Care HIV Prevention) Grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in 2022.  The grant has given us to the ability to offer free Instant HIV testing and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) prescriptions to our community in an effort to end the HIV epidemic.

The PCHP Team at RHC currently works with over a dozen agencies around the city including the Indianapolis Public Library, the Salvation Army, and the Trans Solutions Research and Resource Center.  If your agency is interested in partnering with the PCHP team, please connect with one of our program coordinators to utilize our testing and navigation services.

At Raphael Health Center, our PCHP Team offers:

  • Free Instant HIV and Rapid Hepatitis C Testing

  • PrEP Navigation Services

  • Free Community Testing

  • Sexual Health Education

  • HIV Patient Care Coordination

No one will be denied care based on their inability to pay at Raphael Health Center.

Some facts about HIV and PrEP prescriptions are:

  • Taking PrEP properly can reduce your risk of HIV by 99%.

  • People who have an STD may be at an increased risk of getting HIV.

  • HIV is NOT transmitted through air, saliva/kissing, sharing food, drinks, or toilets.

  • HIV can be transmitted through sexual contact, sharing injection drug equipment, or during pregnancy, birth, or breast/chest feeding.

  • HIV can be stopped if PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is started within 72 hours of exposure.  Contact your doctor and ask about PEP.
